September is the time when I normally go back to school and start planning the new school year. This year, however, things are different as I have come to the point in my life where I feel I need to take my retirement – a bit earlier than anticipated. Having taught English and French as second languages for more than 35 years, I now feel I should pass the torch to the younger generation.
As from September 2017, my language school will be run by a very dynamic young lady and a qualified English teacher. Naturally, in this period of transition, I will be helping out and teaching all English classes from end of September to end of February. I am sorry I can't go on with my French classes but I do hope my students won't give up their education in the French language. I feel that this retirement is bittersweet, as I am excited to start a new chapter in my life but sad to end another one. I hope that the school and its students are successful in every endeavour they take up.
As I embark on the exciting journey into early retirement, I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart all my students who helped me make teaching such a rewarding experience!
Anastasia, I am happy for your retirement. I had to retire early because of the cancer surgery I had. I miss teaching but as time has passed and government agencies overtake education, I am glad to be out of the rat race created here in the US. I hope your retirement allows you to rest, teavel and remember your life as a teacher/-administrator. I love you very much.

I love you, too Faith and I hope that you are safe after Irma hit Florida on Saturday night. I was so worried after what I had read in the papers here and what I watched on TV was even worse! The links below show how we were informed of this terrible disaster. They said the death toll rises to 68! As a matter of fact, I was a bit jealous of Alkis who retired last October. I felt I needed to spend some more time with him. Despite the advantages, being your own boss is not always a bed of roses. For twenty years, I've proudly run my own language school. However, I had to work 12 - 14 hours a day to keep standards at a high level. Right now, I want to be a good housewife! Christina, a young English teacher who has taken over, is an enthusiastic young lady who loves kids and I know she'll do a great job even though she hasn't got a lot of experience. This is why I promised to help out and teach all classes till end of February.

Congratulations on your retirement. I was hoping to retire next year, but I think I am going to wait a couple of more years.

Thank you very much, Kofla. I think I will enjoy my retirement by doing so many things I didn't have time to do when I worked - such as travelling, spending more time with hubby who retired last October, reading more books since I am a bookworm, going out more often, meeting up with friends, to mention only a few.
