I hear smartwatches like the Apple iwatch are going to be big over the coming years just like digital technology was big in the early '80s. If you ask me, I'm sick and tired of technology and all these so-called new "smart" advances occurriing every so often which only aim at persuading people to buy "the new outstanding iwatch." I must admit, however, that back in the 80s when I was still a student, I was tempted to buy a swiss digital watch. At the beginning, I was proud of my new possession, but very soon I realised that I was constantly doing math in order to calculate how much time was left during an examination session! So I'd rather have a glance at the analog clock on the wall watching the hourly hand confidently strut past each number.
Wearing an analog watch in my early teens gave me a greater sense of responsibility. It nudged me to timely do homework or reminded me when the next school holiday began! The problem with smartwatches and "smart" techonology , in general, is that it tends to manage our time quite differently. "Smart" technology wants us to work like mini computers thus dehumanizing the value of time as we actually start to suffer from time anxiety. As responsibilities grew in my adult life, I learnt to manage my time effectively instead of turning my day into a senseless race against it.
I don't think that the Apple iwatch or any sophsticated smart watch will ever replace the craftsmanship and heritage of luxury timepieces. I am a traditional watch enthusiast and will never go smart with my watch, simply because no smart watch can equal the precision, class and elegance of my Rolex. It's not only a great analog watch. It's also a beautiful piece of jewellery and a great investment.
Your Rolex is gorgeous! I wouldn't change it for anything if I had one like yours! I also prefer analog watches, they are so much more elegant than digital ones.
