Not long ago, I was very happy to post about our unusually warm weather in mid-November - clear blue skies and temperatures rising to beautiful 26*C. But early December came to take revenge. Anyway, revenge is a plate best served cold!

More than 20 communities have been cut off due to heavy snowfall. It's been snowing there uninterruptedly since the early morning hours - and snow has piled up. Here in Larnaca, on the southern coast, we got an unsually cold spell. It was 6*C when I got up this morning.... reluctantly. I've been living in Larnaca for 28 years but never before have I experienced such a freezing cold morning in early December: grey, gloomy skies, strong cold winds, rain and temperatures not exceeding 6*C. To some of you this may sound like normal winter weather but to me this is ..... Siberia!
I enjoyed the cold spell. However much I love our long , hot summers, I sometimes feel like experiencing for a while a cold spell. I was on time for my appointment at the dentist's at 8:00 am. I went to work after that and came back home at 8:00 pm. I greatly appreciated the glowing fire at the fireplace that Alkis had already lit up and the glass of a Louis Latour Mercurey Cote Chalonnaise he offered me. An excellent red with a great aroma and an inspiring bouquet. I just loved it.
Hello.
How lucky you are to have snow after all.Snow will kill germs and give the land some good water.
Heavy rain, will fluid every where and will go away for nothing. After that the hot weather will be a cause to dry the land,as if it didn't rain.
Here in Lebanon we had snow on places above 1500m.It was 4c where I live, it will be very cold for some days.
Helping people as groups, was a very good idea. That what most of the villages and towns did.
God Bless

Oh how I wish we had cooler weather here. I love the cold and snow (not sure how my body would accept it) but here, Florida is the hottest place in the continental US. Today it was 85 degrees and humid. Unbearable for mid-December. I love roaring fires, warm blankets and cuddling with the one you love, with gentle music playing in the background. I especially like it with only Christmas lights and candles lighting the room. Hmmmmmmmmm Would I give anything for this scenerio right now.

We haven't seen any snow in Larnaca but for about a week it was freezing cold. However many villages were completely cut off due to the snow. They did get help, though.

In Cyprus, the weather is usually more like Florida or California in early December. This cold spell is extreme weather for us. I've been living in Larnaca for almost 30 years and I can't remember a colder December.
