February arrived in Cyprus with a huge grin and gorgeous sunny days. I could almost smell Spring in the cool breeze coming from the sea, flirting with my veranda throughout the weekend and spoiling us with mild temperatures rising to 20 degrees celsius on the coast. But just about as I was starting to consider getting rid of coats, boots and umbrellas, today's stormy weather made me have second thoughts. February in Cyprus is a moody month. It will drift along lazily with its moods...on a whim. Now it's sunny, now it isn't!
Regardless of its moody attitude, February is one of my most favourite months. Its birthstone is the amethyst which symbolises piety, humility, spiritual wisdom and sincerity. Its main zodiac sign is Aquarius like my husband whose birthday is on February 17. It's an unfortunate coincidence that this year his birthday is on the same day as the Presidential Elections. We'll vote and then celebrate over lunch for a change in order to watch the results of our Presidential Elections in the evening.
February is also the month which celebrates Love. Just like we celebrate Christmas,Easter, name days and birthdays on a special day, Love is celebrated on February 14th , Saint Valentine's Day.
I'm looking forward to yet another great Valentine's Day! How about you?
San Diego, California's second-largest city, is often known as a laid-back beach-bum hangout. However, the city was dubbed the "newest cultural Mecca" in the United States by Travelocity due to the world-class museums, cultural events, and fine dining that co-exist with its miles of beaches and perpetually sunny weather. February is an ideal time to visit, as visitors will enjoy mild temperatures, several natural phenomenons, and a host of festivals. I can see that more or less Cypress shares the same weather in February. OK, I checked it out! :-)
As for Valentine's Day, I agree that there is a universal need for love and emotional intimacy around the holidays, but why wouldn't people want this kind of treatment everyday, all year? Of course it is normal to want to feel as special as the next girl by having your man send you flowers for your desk too. Everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon and say they received something for Valentines Day, but the gifts are not the important thing - the love is. Some women would rather have a boyfriend on Valentines Day, and be single the rest of the year. How pathetic!

I am going to celebrate Valentine's Day with that wonderful Canadian husband of mine! I'll send him a...romantically mysterious card at his workplace and as soon as I get back from work I will prepare a very special dinner which I call "Valentine's Love Spell" :-) I so love your photos. You look great in red and white! Happy Valentine's Day!

I don't like the commercial aspect of Valentine's Day and besides I don't see why love should be celebrated on one particular day. To me Valentine's day is nothing but big business for some people and has nothing to do with the true meaning of love.

I'd rather focus on the positives and regard Valentine's Day as a special day to look forward to and an opportunity to celebrate with my husband by preparing a candlelit dinner for us - something that I honestly can't do every single day of the year. Love deserves to be celebrated on a special day.

I'll take your weather than the current weather here..right now as of this writing, we are having another big snowstorm, (so normal here but still not used to it). It's the peak of winter and it's impossible for me to picture spring although I'm always wishing it's spring tomorrow or even summer soon.
February is a special month for us too because this is the month my husband proposed to me.
I'm looking forward to spend another Valentine's Day with my husband too.

I the North of Italy where I am living is very cold now and we also had a lot of snow. So Valentines Day will come to keep us warm with its message of love that we express to our beloved. The Italians are celebrate with big enthousiam this day. We make surprises and express our love to our partner. Also we exchange gifts like in Christmas. It is a beautifull day that everyone, from teenagers to old people will enjoy.
In the past, Saint valentines was celebrate in a different way. The young people were going to public park or garden. They were listen to music or read love poems and then they were going for a walk. This is how my grandparents were celebrate this day. This custom no longer existing now.

It's freezing cold here in Amsterdam. I wish I could have some of your sunshine my way! Although I'm single, I really enjoy Valentine's Day and look forward to celebrate it with close friends. Saint Valentine taught the world what love really is - not just romantic love- but all forms of love. So on Saint Valentine's I celebrate all the people that really love me.

What annoys me most about Saint Valentine's Day is that it is commercialized so much. Love is promoted through dinners at expensive restaurants or a special dinner at home that may cost twice as much in addition to cards, roses and chocolates. I simply refuse to associate love with material goods.

La St Valentin peut être une journée comme les autres (pour cela il suffit de le vouloir!!) une occasion particulière de "se lâcher".
