Since yesterday, Cyprus has been hit by a cold spell which is said to be coming from...Siberia and affecting Cyprus. I may be wreckless at Geography but I do know that Siberia is thousands of miles away from Cyprus. How can this polar cold affect the eastern Mediterranean? Well, I haven't got a clue! Having lived in Switzerland for eight years, I am used to snow and cold weather so much that it doesn't impress me. Actually, I've had enough of it! We had temperatures far below normal for this time of year, such as -10 in the mountains and in my area on the southern coast , it was 6 celsius at 12 midday plus the cold wind coming from the mountains which dropped the mercury to probably 3-4 degrees celcius later in the day. This describes nicely extreme weather conditions in Cyprus.
When I came back home from work, it was freezing cold in Larnaca but Alkis greeted me with a kiss and a glowing fire in the fireplace. And then I prepared dinner - trahanas soup for starters and lemon chichen with jacket potatoes for main course. I wasn't naughty this time and resisted to dessert despite the cold! I am glad to hear that this terrible cold spell will hopefully go away tomorrow! And ...Summer will come again!
It's freezing cold in Athens as well. It snowed heavily in Northern Greece but we also had snow in Athens.

I don't like the cold weather and the worst, I hate the snow. It's always freezing in here in this side of my place and sometimes can be just rainy. That's why I hate winter coz it's mostly icky weather. That second photo you took is very, very nice...just like a postcard.

I hate winter and cold weather as well. I didn't take these photos - the first one was published in Cyprus Mail newspaper and the second one is from cybc - a national TV channel. I agree that the second one is truly beautiful.
