Getting up on the wrong side of the bed doesn't necessarily mean that your whole day will go disastrously wrong. My grandma used to say that there was something good in every day. Here are a few easy ways on how to improve a bad morning and eventually turn it into a great day to remember.
1. Ok, when the alarm went off, you threw it away and went back to sleep. To your horror, you woke up at 9:00 am and you were still in your pyjamas while you had to be at work. So what? Don't panic! Don't curse your bad luck! Don't be moody! Make a phone call at work to say that you will arrive late because your alarm had been playing up. Then take a shower singing "Que Sera Sera", do not skip breakfast and go to work. Everyone , including your boss, will appreciate your honesty AND good mood! And you will feel a lot more productive, which is something positive.
2. Unless something life-changing has happened - e.g. the loss of a loved one or your other half has been fired - laugh at your misfortunes and if someone tells you how terrible you look, take it with a pinch of salt, smile at that person and say: "We all have bad days but it's up to us to improve them" Laughter is the best cure and it's contagious!
3. Instead of thinking of all the terrible things that happened to you on a bad day, think of all the positive things you've already had in your day and look forward to a very relaxing evening at home.
4. The ancient Greeks said : "Ouden Kakon Amiges Kalou" meaning there's something positive in something negative. Every Cloud has a silver lining, doesn't it?
You are the architect of your own future!
You have always reminded me that every cloud has its silver lining and I believe it. School this year is horrendous and I had another scare with the cancer when I had my recent mammogram (which Thank You God, turned out to be nothing) but it is very easy to "catch" the unhappiness and hostility of others with whom I work. I have taken to listening to a Christian radio station at work (I turn the volume off when the kids are in there)and I am uplifted by songs of praise. It didn't change circumstances and it didn't erase the negativity of others but it certainly has helped me become more positive knowing God is walking beside me the entire way.... AND of course, there are only 143 days until I retire from the rat race!!!!!

You're absolutely right. A mind filled with hope and positive thoughts can make a difference. I also believe in starting a day with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving, and a prayer request for strength and wisdom so I can make it through the day. Counting our blessings is also one way to be positive. In Christianity the Greek saying is summed up like this "All things work for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose."
You are such a good motivational writer now Anastasia...love this post.

I always start my day with a prayer. Praying makes me feel stronger and gives me the courage and stamina to overcome difficulties and hope for better days.

Faith, you've always been for me a pattern of strength and courage. It's very important to count our blessings instead of dwelling in negativity when things go wrong.

I also think that it's very important to face a bad day with a smile and with positive feelings. At the end of a really bad day, I usually feel like crying but then I do make an effort to see the positive things that happened, although it's not always easy to do so.

This is a great post, Anastasia. I liked it so much! Thinking positive, to my mind, relates closely to the power of will which is the driving force that leads people to happiness and contentment.
