We are already in mid September, however it still feels like summer in Cyprus. It's got 35*C (95F) inland right now and 33*C (91F) on the coast. This is no surprise. In my part of the world, September has always been..... the fourth summer month! This is why it is so hard for all primary and high school students to get up at 6:30 am and get ready for the first day at school after the summer break! Primary school here starts at 7:30 am and finishes at 1:10 pm. High school starts at 7:45 am and finishes at 1:30 pm. Soon after school, most children take up English, French or German, piano, swimming, football, computer, taekwodo or ballet lessons at private schools. Lessons at my school start a bit later - on September 17. I am looking forward to meeting my students and beginning together a new school year.
As you may realise, September is for me that time of year when- regardless of the weather - I go back to work and get ready for the new school year. However, this year, September is also the time when I'm going back to the beach and swimming in the sea. Because of some health issues (angioplasty), I wasn't able to swim at all during my summer break. I now wish the hot weather continues till the end of October!
What's September like in your part of the world?
September is also a hot month in India. We get about 34C pretty much like in Cyprus. School starts inJuly and ends in May but this can differ for different regions and schools.

What I really like in September is that it's still warm enough to swim and the beaches are more quiet. It was 35 C today in Limassol but the evenings are getting cooler and not very humid.

Beautiful photo of Mazotos beach. It's been ages I haven't been there. September is the time of year when the city comes to life again. Nicosia is no longer a...ghost city despite the high temperatures. The evenings are much cooler, though, and it's the best time to meet up with friends at a favourite restaurant which has just gone back to business after the long August break!

We've got some nice weather lately with temperatures ranging from 17 to 20 degrees. By the way, did you know that, traditionally, September 24th was the day on which harvesting began in medieval England?

It's hard to believe it's September already. It's gonna be Christmas before we know it.

I enjoy the cool September evenings, having dinner in the garden with friends and family. It may still be hot in the day but at least we've got rid of the humidity.

Ahh September! My favorite month! It's the time to plan my...summer vacation, at last! So I choose places that are sunny and warm end October or beginning November.

I love that beach in your photo! It looks like the perfect place to relax, inviting you to take a swim or maybe a boat trip. For me, September marks the end of my very short summer holiday and, here I am, back to work again! Not complaining, anyway!

Here in Japan, the typhoon season reaches its peak in August and September. Typhoons usually hit the coasts of Okinawa, Kyushu and Shikoku and cause strong rain and wind in wide parts or all of Japan for about two days. Luckily, typhoons are often followed by perfectly clear weather. The weather in September can still be quite hot and humid, but the crowds of August have mostly disappeared. Anyway, we've still got to put up with humidity!

Right now it's got 11C in Sydney but it's almost 10 pm. It seems to me that this year September in Australia is warmer than usual. Yesterday at 2:00 pm we got 21C! I'm looking forward to a long, hot summer!
In September, there is a wide array of festivals and attractions in Australia. My favourite is the Festival of the Winds – This is probably the most exciting and the biggest kite festival in the country this year. The skies brighten up with countless kites of different sizes and shapes both from local and international flyers and makers.

I hate September cos it reminds me of 9/11/01. I was only 16 then but I don't think I'll ever get over my parents' loss. Mom and Dad worked at the World Trade Center when the attack happened. Now I live in Phoenix, Arizona (USA). I hate it here. I hate the heat and humidity. September is like hell in Arizona, we had 100° / 80° F today. I still miss New York!

We have more or less the same weather here in Athens. I went swimming last Sunday with some good friends and we really enjoyed the quiet and uncrowded beach at Glyfada. Next year I'm going to take my summer vacation in September!

I also enjoy the uncrowded beaches in September and hope that October will be warm enough to swim.

No one will ever forget September 11, Katie - a tragic day that changed the world.

We have a similar tradition in Cyprus. On the first day of Lent called Green Monday both childen and adults fly kites.

I don't really like pebble beaches but this one is one of my favourite. I'm sure you'll love it!
