There are times when I really feel like updating my blog yet no matter how much I try to squeeze a post out of my head, I hit dry spells and can't think of a word to write! What's even more frustrating is that trying to break through a blank screen happens on a day like today when I have plenty of free time to plan a post. Planning a post is, on the other hand, something I rarely do on this blog, but I usually have a topic in mind. Ah well, I guess this lack of inspiration may happen to great bloggers and great writers alike or so I am told. A friend once advised me to try reblogging an "evergreen" older post - something which I thought was sort of boring and meaningless.
After all today has been a boring Sunday so far. Alkis flew to Greece on Friday for his youngest niece's wedding. I wish I could go with him, but September marks the beginning of the new school year and I have so much work to do before lessons start on the 15th. I slept 9 hours in a row, which is very unlike me. When I got up, I fixed a huge breakfast and then wandered around for a while. I went for a walk , then had an espresso at one of the many cafes at Finicoudes Seafront while reading Edgar Allan Poe's To Helen - a poem celebrating the nurturing power of woman:
Helen, thy beauty is to me
Like those Nicean barks of yore,
That gently, o'er a perfum'd sea,
The weary way-worn wanderer bore
To his own native shore.
On desperate seas long wont to roam,
Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face,
Thy Naiad airs have brought me home
To the beauty of fair Greece,
And the grandeur of old Rome.
What I know is that you have written a wonderful post which I greatly enjoyed reading. Keep writing even when you come across dry spells!

Anastasia, I understand totally, the dry spells. I seem to be writing when I am upset or confused, etc. Yesterday I forced myself to write about friendship but that was due to an "irritation" I felt. Thank you for having dry spells, also. I, too, enjoyed your blog. I love everything you write, even when I do not respond. Thank you so much!

What I most look forward to on weekdays is sleeping in on Sundays! Today I got up at 12, enjoyed my frappe and watched The Social Network on DVD - smart, exciting and thought-provoking.

“Don’t focus on having a great blog. Focus on producing a blog that’s great for your readers.” (Brian Clark). And I honestly think that your blog is a gem for your readers.

What keeps me coming back to your blog even if I don't always comment, is that you never pretend. You never try to show off, you are real, authentic and outspoken! I love your blog, Anastasia! Big hugs from Sweden.

What is it that makes a great blog? Is it the number of comments or page views? I guess it's both, but, most importantly, to my mind, it's great content!

One thing I love in your blog is that you are fiercely passionate about what you write.

I like blogging very much but I don't have time to think and write, so I surf the net and share on my blog things I find interesting, useful or even funny and strange. Take care and have a great week ahead.

Exactly one year ago, I started a blog on Typepad microblogs - a travel guide to Europe based on my experience as a tour operator. I only published one post! It wasn't a dry spell why I did not continue but a terrible lack of time. Now I am thinking of going back to it.

Buonasera Anastasia. I love to blog. But I a write in my language because is very hard for me to write English. My blog is not public because I like to share it with my good friends and my family only. Like you, sometimes, I have no inspiration. Is not something that happen often but when I have nothing to say, I will never tell! What I am doing is post a video which is connect to my blog or photos from my family or some of my paintings.
