Last night, I surprised Alkis with one of his most favourite dishes: Indian Chicken Curry - an authentic Indian recipe I came across at allrecipes.com. Unlike me, Alkis loves hot and spicy foods and is a great fan of Indian cuisine. I also love Indian food but in its mild or ....very mild version. Well, after all, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!! I served my Indian chicken curry with brown rice instead of Basmati - that was my own personal touch - and a mixed salad. It's impossible for us not to have a salad with lunch or dinner. If you like Indian food have a look at Curry in Kadai - an Indian cooking blog. You'll love it.
Since I can't eat spicy food, I had grilled salmon with lemon juice while Alkis was enjoying my delicious Indian dish.
I love love love spicy food!

Indian curries aren't always spicy. Have you tried Rogan Josh? It's a curried lamb originated in Kashmir but also popular in Punjab. Medium spicy, the red colour comes from tomatoes and red pepper than red chilies.

All your dishes look so very appetizing, Anastasia! I love Indian food and cook chicken curry quite often at home. I haven't tried it with coconut milk, though. This must give it a special flavour.

Wow! Your dishes look delecious. I sometimes cook Indian food for dinner. My speciality is chicken karma which it is another kind of chicken curry cooked in onion sauce with indian herbs, fresh cream and cashew nuts. It's a rather mild indian dish and I think you will like it.

What I like most about Indian food is how it appeals to the senses with a unique blend of delightful spicy smells, flavors and colors which also reflect the culture of an amazing nation.

I'm not very fond of spicy foods but I can eat a medium spiced curry. Looking at your pictures now, if I had the choice I'd have your salad and grilled salmon which is one of my favorite dishes.

At least once a month, I either have indian take-away or go to an indian restaurant. Here in Amsterdam there are some fine indian eateries worth trying. I generally prefer tandoori dishes to curries or foods with too much spicy sauce.

I tried indian food once in my life and was ill for a week. Never again!!!

Some like it hot but I don't!!! I like mild indian dishes like chicken harda badi if the indian spices used are not too hot.

Ohhh I love indian food!!! My most favorite is chicken vindaloo. It is very hot but I like it. I generally like very spicy food even in greek cuisine I can kill for a very hot tyrokafteri!!!. Another indian dish i like is chicken tikka masala with lots of red pepper. I'm sure both you and Alkis enjoyed your meal. Your photos are super!!!

I fell in love with indian food when I first visited India 5 years ago. I like a lot of Indian dishes such as their cheese and paneer dishes but my favourites are kuttu ki puri, hara bhara kebab and kalkan biryani. When travelling to southern India, I had the chance to taste some of the country's hottest curries.

Indian food makes me wanna throw up. I'm allergic to most indian spices.

I don't like soupy foods like curries. I'd rather have chinese, thai or japanese food. Well, one man's meat is another man's poison. :-)

Ciao Anastasia. You have prepared a very nice dinner! Me too, sometimes I will make something my husband or my kids like and something else for me. But there is one food we all like so much. This is tagliatelle con pollo, with chicken, roast almonds and tomato sauce. I also like salmone but I not grill it. I cook it in the oven with aromatic herbs, mustard and fresh cream.

I could eat all your 3 dishes in one go when I'm starving! Your salad and grilled salmon are, by far, the healthiest option.

Je n'aime pas trop la cuisine indienne, mais je dois dire que ton dîner a l'air délicieux!

Jim, I haven't tried that yet, but I don't think I'll like it as I rarely eat lamb.

Danai, I also love sweet foods such as a combination of fruit, nuts, a dash of sugar and chicken or prawns. I love all the sweet and sour chinese dishes!
Posted by: Anastasia | September 04, 2011 at 11:08 PM
Oh no, Andreas! Hot chicken curry and salmon???
Posted by: Anastasia | September 04, 2011 at 11:09 PM
Lisa, your salmon sounds delicious. I'd love to have your recipe.

Karolina, I also love chicken tikka...without the red pepper!
Posted by: Anastasia | September 04, 2011 at 11:12 PM
Laura, I also used fresh cream until I came across this authentic Indian recipe. Alkis said it was really delicious with coconut milk.
