Kyriacou Pelagia from Paralimni, Cyprus has made a career in our traditional folk music and singing at an age when other singers feel old and wouldn't dare think of singing in public. Kyriacou Pelagia has kept our tradition alive for the last twenty years or so. She is one in a million! Anna Vissi - the Greek ..Madonna - has acknowledged Kyriacou's amazing talent.
YOU are one in a million, sugar! What a great post!

I really enjoyed this video, Anastasia. I had never heard of Kyriacou Pelagia before. She is a star! I love the fact that she doesn't wear any make-up or dress in a fancy way. She is authentic - just like her music. But I must say that Anna Vissi is also gorgeous!!!! Not many famous Greek pop stars would do what Anna did.

I like her gentle, melodious voice. She's simply brilliant!

Kyriacou Pelagia is a great singer who truly cares about keeping alive our folk music and handing it down to the younger generation.

I am impressed by Kyriacou's beautiful voice and natural beauty. It's true that in Greece not many women of her age would dare to get on stage with hardly any make-up and a simple outfit.

Christina, what I don't like about Anna Vissi is her demeanour - she tries hard to be like ...a teenager when she is not! Personally, I prefer Vandi.

Constantinos, Anna Vissi is THE GODDESS, the absolute Greek pop star! Despina Vandi is always immitating her - e.g musicals? :-)

Hats off to Kyriacou Pelagia! She has preserved our musical tradition and heritage. I remember her as a teenager when she sang at various funfairs (panigyria). I love her songs so much! But watching the video, I had the impression that Anna Vissi used her to promote her own concert and career by presenting something ...different!

I really don't think that Anna Vissi needs to use anyone to promote her concerts. She is the absolute Greek pop star!

Kyriacou's voice sounds like a crystal clear stream flowing through green prairies. Her songs remind me of the Cretan "mantinades"
