I got up early today looking forward to my body pump class at 10 am. Having prepared all my gym gear , I got into the car and ... something weird happened! I inserted the switch key into the ignition and the engine started causing the car to move ...backwards or ...forwards. But on no account would it turn left or right ! Something was definitely wrong with the steering wheel !
Cnsidering that I am far from being mechanically minded - especially as far as car engines are concerned - I called hubby in tears - this time, they were not crocodile tears !! He told me that I might have locked the steering wheel and all I had to do was to move it left or right so that it would unlock ! So I did ...but it wouldn't. Then I called my mechanic who repeated the same thing ! I didn't think it was important to mention that the engine would start none-the-less.
I did as he said , more or less exactly the same thing as hubby said ! ( I wonder why men are so self-confident as far as car engines are cocerned ! ) But no result ! I called the mechanic back .. and asked him to come and see what was wrong with the car ... So he did ...
Believe it or not ...a cat had niceley settled into my engine just below the steering wheel mechanism. When I started the car , the cat was most probably scared and leapt away causing the round rubber band (whatver it's called!!) to slip off its place.... The mechanic found it ... lying on the pavement of my garage. I had seen it , of course, but thought it was part of little Tony's old bike ! Luckily ... curiosity did not kill the cat !! I don't think I could stand the sight of a dead cat in my car engine !
I was quite annoyed to miss my body pump class, but I made up for it tonight and went to the body attack class - my favourite !
Oh my God! This is so funny! Just imagine what a cat can do... I know nothing about car engines, that's for sure and I also don't know how to change a flat tyre! The problem with men is that they will never admit such a thing.

All's well that ends well! The car wasn't damaged, I suppose, you went to your gym class after all and the cat wasn't hurt! Can't help a giggle yet I realise how frustrating this must have been for you in the first place.

I've always thought cats are unpredictable!

Crazy cat! Hopefully, the cat's fine and he'll stay away from inside of your car's hood from here on in!
Do you remember when I was at Yahoo and wrote about the four baby squirrels inside my car on my blog? Your story here today reminded me of that.

I hate to drive so I must admit I don't know much about car engines! But you are right, not many will admit to it.

That was quite an adventure - especially for the cat!

That is so funny. I am a cat lover and I have one who will not let me use the mouse on my computer if he wants my attention. He presses against my arm so I am unable to move it or he literally sits on the mouse so I cannot use it. I can only use it after I have given him his "adequate" (according to him) amount of love and attention. He makes me crazy.
I must say I have had cats climb up on the wheels and also gotten into the engine area but thankfully, as soon as I started the car, they ran away. I, too, would hate to find a dead cat in my engine compartment.
**Thanks for your comments to me about our friendship and your loyalty to me! I love you, Anastasia. Still no word but I am hanging on!!! AND I am confidently doing so.

I know you won't give up. You are strong and I have often envied that strength of yours. I also love cats very much! Ha ha ha ! I remember that naughty cat of yours! A few years ago, he wouldn't let me chat with you! :)

I vaguely remember that blog of yours with the squirrels. If I'm not wrong the Mum had decided to give birth in your car, right?

Give me a break! It was quite an adventure for me as well!

That's why I love dogs more than cats! Dogs are never ...unpredictable , are they?

No, the car wasn't damaged. But that was a very frustrating adventure for me!

I used to have a cat which unfortunately was run over by a car. I still miss her a lot. She would hide in the most unusual places like in the washing machine!
