Halloween has always exerted on me a strange fascination although we don't celebrate it in Greece and Cyprus. I wish we were, though. It must be such fun ! I was talking to an American friend of mine the other day and he remembered one of the Halloweens of his childhood. He and his friends had gone round various houses asking for a trick or treat. Someone gave them sweets and all the kids were delighted. To their horror (after all that's what Halloween really is about!) they soon found out that all the sweets had pepper in them. Poor kids !
Last year, I told Stefania's 12-year-old son about Halloween and even showed him a YouTube video which he greatly enjoyed. Say that he was thrilled would be an understatement. He was over the moon! So, he decided to throw a Halloween party. He invited his friends - all dressed up in spooky costumes - and they took to the streets celebrating, visited neighbours in their spooky apparel. "Trick or Treat?" they'd ask people who had no idea whatsoever of what was going on. The neighbours' children were scared to death and the parents threatened to call the police!
Any special memories from the Halloweens of your childhood ?
