Life can be inspiring and it can also make us yawn. As with beauty, what each of us feels drawn to is personal and it’s not good to judge the eye of the beholder. For myself, I find when someone has a true love for what they are saying or doing, no matter the subject, I can get drawn in…

You may have succeeded at life if...

If you do something noone ever accomplished before.

If you give more to the human race than you take away.

If you are ever a world champion.

If you spend more time happy than sad.

If you practice refined taste.

If you spend less time thinking about other people than they spend thinking about you.

If you have two or more surviving children.

If you have sex with more people than your partners.

If you die with more money than your parents.

If when the time comes you don't fear death.

If someone remembers you 100 years after you're gone.

If you make a difference in just one person's life.

If you ever get someone to truly love you.

If you accomplish everything which was expected of you and more.

If you never purposefully harm anyone.

...But the truth is, there is no official score.

I don't think I could ever lead an idle life even if I had the means to do so, so I understand your need to be active all the time. I know that it's not easy to be happy and successful in both personal and professional life. I think that all it takes to have a good life is a positive attitude and a determination to set goals and achieve them.

I used to keep a diary for years but after I got married and had the kids and a new job i didnt have the time to write. Or maybe i was getting too lazy! My life is like a race and this sometimes gives me a lot of stress, especially when i feel that i wont be able to finish everything like i want at the end of the day. Now i am not sure if we can find 100% happiness. There will always be something that makes sad or unhappy but i suppose this is human nature after all.

Certainly we're all after happiness and a good quality of life. For some this can be wealth, for others status, a happy family etc. What makes us happy may vary but in actual fact we all have the same pursuit - happiness. However, I see so many people around me feeling miserable for trivial things. I think that these people will never be really happy in life. As for friendship, I really don't believe in the number of friends but in their quality. I don't have many true friends either but I feel blessed for the ones I have.

We can make of our own life anything we wish - create it and then go out and live it. We'd rather learn to make every day count, appreciate every moment and take from it everything that we possibly can, for we may never be able to experience it again.

By the way, I've been keeping a diary for years now and always enjoy writing a new entry just before bedtime. I find it extremely relaxing.

I like your blog quote - "The good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge." But to be more realistic, the good life also depends on wealth because if you don't have enough money to pay the bills and also lead a comfortable life - and I don't mean luxuries - where's the happiness?

I don't really keep a diary, but at the end of the day I make brief notes of all the positive and negative things including mistakes. I regulalry revise my notes trying not to repeat the same mistake again and finding ways to eliminate negative things.Not long ago, I shared the same idea of happiness as Sophia. I thought that true happiness lies in wealth and material goods and partly to some social status. One day I was feeling really miserable,so I made an effort to look at the bright side of my life as you have often taught me to do when I was low. I started counting my blessings : a healthy bank account, a great flat, powerful and influential acquaintances, the luxury to take a holiday any time I wished, 2 great kids and a few good friends. With the exception of my kids and my friends, nothing else in my list really made me happy. So I started to seek inner and intellectual happiness like being a great friend to myself, thinking positive, finding time to relax by going fishing more often or getting away with the kids, going to the theatre, to galleries, learning about art and philosophy, going to the gym. That's how I discovered my spiritual self who has nothing to do with religious concepts. And gradually this showed me the way to happiness. Brilliant blog, Anastasia!

My dear friend, I always wish you to be happy and have a good life. God bless you

Happiness can be found wherever you look for it. For instance, in the Dancer from Khiva. This is a Russian book, translated into English, about Bibish, who was kidnapped and driven out to the desert to be gang-raped…and life rolls on from there with all the consequences, such as never being able to be married as a result (but she does). And never being able to dance because dancing is frowned upon in her village. We all are driven down the road of circumstance, but we all have the option of turning the steering wheel. Yes, some things happen that really suck. It is up to us to decide just how badly they will suck and how happy we will choose to be, despite circumstances. Cheers

Sorry to say that all the understanding of good life is changed those days .Cause luxury machinery and other stuff made life some how easy but not Merely.Busy busy all the time made people far away from each others.Staying home for two or three days , for some people is fun and they feel fine .Connected to their friend and to the world by the Internet ,even food delivered to them, no need to cook or to do a hard thing, what do that means staying alone with much pleasure for some short time.
Writing Dayle Diary is not only keeping records, or making an archive it is a very good treatment and judgment for our self.Reviewing all what some one did, all day, all the week, is there any mistake happened, or any good thing done, of a particular title or something else been done.make a Dayle scale of good things and bad things.
Raising up children is a big responsibility to the parents and to the teachers .Don't say to a kid that all is o k when it is not, make them feel your good and bad life.To be frank is a sing of strength in life.
Love respect honesty and trust is the pyramid of good life
Wish you all.
All the goodness in life.
Life Full of Love Good health Wealth Joy Happiness and Success.
with all my Love walid

Anastasia, you are very lucky to have 2 great friends for such a long time. I also dont have many true friends, maybe 3-4, but I know they love me and care for me just as much as I do. I have known one of them since I was 8. True friends, good health, a good job and a happy family are the main factors that compose a good life.

The best way for a person to have happy thoughts is to count his blessings not his cash.

I agree with Constantinos. Happiness is above all a state of mind and the result of positive thinking which help us overcome difficult or unhappy moments. Hugs and kisses from Sweden

Happiness to me is being at peace with myself and those around me and being able to give and receive love unconditionally.

Hello I got this E mail from my cosin .I love to share it on your page.Regarding good life.
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be
consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are
born to Eternal Life.

With all my Love Walid.

I think different things make different people happy. For example what makes me happy may make unhappy somebody else. But the perfect happiness doesn't exist. We can have a good life if we count our blessings while we can be really miserable if we are never pleased with what we have.

Oh by the way Anastasia, thank you very much for visiting my new blog. I am beginning to like it although I am not very familiar with Blogger yet. Have a great weekend.

I love Walid's prayer - so true and so wise. But I disagree with both Stefania and Lucy. Happiness, dear ladies, is like ice cream. Different people love different flavors: I may love chocolate and strawberry, you may love vanilla and lemon - but we all like ice cream !!!
